About Us
Since 1988, Dr. James Hinsch has been providing patients on the North Fork with natural and effective chiropractic care. In 1998, a physician he knew approached him about sharing office space on Shelter Island. The timing was impeccable, the only chiropractor on the island was set to retire. So in 1998, Dr. Hinsch opened an office there, too, serving patients in Mattituck, and Shelter Island. He is available at that office on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

A Surprise Side Effect of Chiropractic
One of Dr. Hinsch’s patients was a woman who came into the office with back pain. She also didn’t think she could get pregnant. In the course of care not only did she experience relief from her pain but she was able to conceive.
Help for Scoliosis
A 5-year-old boy was brought in with a severe scoliosis. It measured 28 degrees. It was recommended by doctors that he be put in a brace for 23 hours a day. Dr. Hinsch saw him regularly over the course of a year. His scoliosis decreased from 28 degrees to 14, then 14 to 7, and 7 to 0. This child also had a disease called neurofibromatosis, which creates benign tumors that grow near the nerves.
When the scoliosis finally went to 0 the boy’s parents followed up with a pediatric orthopedist. They told the orthopedist, “We took our son to a chiropractor and look what happened.” The orthopedist said there was no way chiropractic could have helped. The boy’s mom also followed up with a pediatric neurologist who said, “I have never seen these tumors disappear like that.”
The patient is now 30 years old and still gets adjusted. Chiropractic prevented an extremely invasive surgery that was planned for him along with months of rehabilitation.
